ARRILASER goes India

In July 2003 we installed our first ARRILASER system, incl. our speed performance package, in India to Prasad in Mumbai. The installation was executed by our senior service engineer Thomas Altenried (see picture).

The services of the Prasad group of companies encompass all areas of the visual media industry. Started in 1956, the Prasad group has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. With vast infrastructural facilities, manpower resources exceeding 1000, a strong affinity to technology and a passion for innovation the Prasad Group is today fully equipped to face the digital world of future entertainment.

Prasad Film Labs, a group of company, with processing and printing facilities in all major film centres of India including Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and Bhuvaneshwar has a combined capacity to process film exceeding 20 million feet per month.

Recently Prasad Film Labs commissioned Asia's First Digital Film Lab at Mumbai. This facility provides a complete digital route for feature film processing, post production, archiving, restoring and final film recording. Film is scanned by the Cintel DSX Scanner and the data is brought into the system. From then onwards the data flows through the entire process flow of color correction - editing - effects - and finally, film recording by the ARRILASER Speed Performance.

The ARRILASER Speed Performance is delivered with the Video Package I, this includes the interactive preview Software ALICE, the new Color Management System and our HD-Module. Prasad also purchased the Camera Negative Option, this option enables Prasad to record on Camera Negative Filmstock additional to Intermediate Filmstock, the recording speed for 5245 and 5242 Film stock is the same, a 2k image with 1:1.85 format can be recorded in only 1.7 seconds per frame, full aperture will take 2.2 seconds per frame, 4k images can be recorded in 2.9 seconds for 1:1.85 format and 3.8 seconds for full aperture format.

The Telecine facility coupled with DaVinci color correction and Oscar Scratch Concealing offers scanning at SDTV, HDTV, 2K and 4K resolutions. This facility has a dust & dirt free atmosphere, highly trained professionals, sophisticated negative handling division, in-house associated services and projection theatre.

The Prasad Group also provides Telecine, Audio, DVD Authoring, Editing, cutting edge visual effects for feature films and advertisement commercials, tape to film conversion (reverse telecine), input/output services and interactive multimedia services from its state of the art facilities located across the region.
