ARRIRAW

ARRIRAW provides uncompromised image quality and most flexibility in postproduction. This uncompressed 12 bit raw Bayer sensor data output from the ARRIFLEX D-21 or ALEXA could be described as a digital negative that needs to be processed. Appropriate equipment and tools are needed to record and work with ARRIRAW.

 

ARRIRAW/Data Mode output can be recorded using ARRIRAW T-Link certified recorders. ARRIRAW T-Link is a method of transporting the ARRIRAW data over a standard dual link HD-SDI connection. The ARRIRAW T-Link Certificate allows simple identification of ARRIRAW recorders that fulfill certain conditions.

 

In postproduction, ARRIRAW files need to be either processed and transformed into a file format of choice or natively supported by the various applications used. The latter preserves the raw file inherent flexibility most conveniently. With the ARRIRAW Converter - ARC, ARRI offers a free software tool to view, process and convert ARRIRAW data in production quality. Participation in the ARRIRAW Partner Program gives developers access to ARRIRAW specific information. This allows system and service providers to offer ARRIRAW capable and easy to use ARRIRAW solutions.
